Week 1: About CSUMB and Online Learning Strategies

This week we learned a little bit of the history of CSUMB as well as information about the School of Computing and Design. It is cool to know in 1984 the school grew out of Fort Old. Not only that but in the SCD you can get a minor in "Communication Design" and "Computer Science and Information Systems."

With starting our journey online, we also reviewed key strategies to succeed in online learning. Some tips to stay ahead are to plan study times, connect with classmates, ask questions when you need help, and to check in to the class page frequently. Staying up to date with the course is important as you could miss an assignment or an email that you need. 

This week's assignments were pretty easy and a smooth start to the year. A few quizzes about videos, and then creating a LinkedIn and Blogger account, and uploading a video on an introduction to ourselves. There was also an outline to complete which is good as my English skills are lacking as I have not taken an English course in a while. I will need to brush up on my APA formatting and basic writing skills to make sure I produce good work.

Capstone Week 9 Learning Journal

This week, I accomplished finishing the Google Agile Essentials certificate, along with starting the last certificate I have, the Google data analytics certificate. My plan for next week is to get as much of this Google certificate done, and hopefully start the project for the certificate after it.  Currently, I do not have too many challenges, except for that I still need to schedule the Amazon Cloud Practitioner exam but it is hard to do that in the middle east given the current state of the country. I do not need instructor assistance, but I have alerted them of my situation.

CST 462s Learning Journal Reflections

What went well for me was the ease of accessing the work I needed to do. Once I got credentials to the website I was able to do everything I needed on my own. Along with that, being able to meet with my supervisor was so easy and we always had great communication which made the process so simple. I always knew what she wanted and always took the constructive criticism.  Things I would improve would be to try to incorporate more Computer Science work into it like HTML or CSS, versus just using a website builder, but she and her organization are not literate in HTML/CSS so it makes sense to not use it so they can edit it later on their own.  The most impactful part was being able to do work for an organization that I also support. I support eating plant-based meals to not only further my health, but also the Earth's health. I know there is a lot of environmental impacts that plant-based meals have.
