Week 7 Journal Entry

Part 1: Video Reflection Me and my teammate collaborated during zoom primarily as we are able to share screens and talk. We used Microsoft Powerpoint and Adobe Photoshop and Stock to create our slides. The process is pretty smooth as we have a small group and can communicate easily and divide up work. I think if we had a larger group it could be hard for everyone to agree on what should be displayed on the slides which can be solved by collaborating with the team and coming to a compromise where everyone is happy and okay with the outcome.  Part 2: Ted Talks and Lectures I chose “Confessions of a Recovering People Pleaser” as the TED talk that interested me because I feel like I please people instead of myself first, and wanted to hear what he has to say as it could help in group projects where I want to please my group members. I think there needs to be a balance of sacrificing yourself and saying what you truly want. If you continue to just go with the flow and be okay with every...

Week 6 Journal Entry

Capstone After we discussed our three capstone ideas each, we both picked our favorite of each to expand on and think more about. We do not know if the Capstone is a group or individual project so we treated it as an individual one for now. My teammate's idea was to create a kind of a virtual reality application where businesses and companies could create their own virtual shops so users can access it anywhere instead of having to go physically. It gives them options if things are out of stock or they want to measure items and compare physically in the comfort of their own home which I think is really helpful for those with disabilities or social anxiety. For my Food and wellness app we discussed even being able to connect it to door dash so if users wanted the food to be delivered they would have that option. We both now have a passionate project we can work on for our capstone project, but if capstone is a group we would need to rethink.  Week Review This week we wrote more of o...

Week 5 Journal Entry

Part 1 - Comment on goals https://tpvlearningjournal.blogspot.com/2025/02/week-4-learning-journal-post.html?sc=1739328143459#c7307749467640748296 I only have one teammate so I responded to his goals here. Part 2 - Capstone Ideas Cooking app personalized to the user. By knowing what the user has eaten already in the day or previously in the week, the app can give suggestions on what to eat next and give ingredient lists from nearby stores, recipes, and instructions on what to make next.  A lifting app that is paired with sensors can track heart rate, velocity of lifts, and other measurements to offer suggestions on increasing or decreasing the weight to maximize muscle growth.  Baseball app that tracks and records baseball pitches and can give predictions the next one based on previous patterns. Part 3 This week we used AI to write part of our essay which is important as AI is changing the future and we have to know how to use it, and use it properly to help us with our ...

Week 5 Industry Expert Interview

For my Industry Expert Review I chose to interview my older brother. He is someone I look up to and has a great career path to follow. Although he is my brother, we never really talked about computer science or our education because I was a mathematics major when he graduated. So now that my brother, Ryan Zambie, has become a Software Development Engineer with CVS Pharmacy, I have become eager to know how he has got to where he is and all about his education in this field to see if I can follow in his footsteps.  He lives across the world so we had a phone call interview as our way of communication. He went to Lafayette College in Pennsylvania and graduated in 3 years, and in that 3rd year he also applied to dozens of internships and got accepted by CVS Pharmacy in that summer. After that summer internship he went back to school to get his masters degree in cybersecurity. Once he finished his masters, CVS offered him a full time position as a Software Development Engineer, and that...

Week 4 Journal Entry

Part One: Set Your Educational Goals Education for me growing up has always been important. My parents strive to make me the best I can be and use me hard. So my goal right now is to continue to get smarter obviously but more specifically is to get my bachelors degree and maintain a 4.0 in the online program. So far in my college career I have only had 2 B's so I would like to get back to my 4.0 status and really become knowledgeable in what I am studying. Part Two: Set Your Career Goals Setting a career goal is a bit difficult for me as I have a long way to go before my career really takes off. A goal that I can think of though is to obtain an internship in the computer science field in the next year somehow, but if that is too difficult I have another goal. This goal is to complete 3 independent projects by the end of the calendar year to get my portfolio going.  Part Three: Take a wild guess of your percentile of the ETS Computer Science test After looking at the ETS Comput...
